Pixie

Today has started out pretty awful. This morning, all of a sudden, Pixie, our female rat terrier, became sick. Well, actually, last night she started feeling bad. She cried and yowled all night. I don't think she slept. By this morning she was falling over and couldn't walk at all by the time we got to the vet. Steve and I had already discussed that if it was going to be a lot of money that we would just put her down. And that's what happened. We would have had to put her in the pet hospital and do a bunch of labs. We felt it was best to put her down with all that she was going through and the vet agreed. While we know that a dog is just a dog and that they have no soul and despitte popular opinion, all dogs do NOT go to heaven, she will be missed and we are sorry to see her go. I chose to be with her when she died and I am glad I did. She was 5 1/2 and a great companion for our male, Snickers. We also have to now explain death to our 4 and 2 year old. Any suggestions? :) Personally, she was not my favorite pet. Actually, we hated each other. :) But yet she did like me a lot but she was very vindictive with me and when I did something she didn't like she would either poop right behind me or poop throughout the house. :) She was very attentive to Snickers and would keep his ears cleaned and eyes cleaned. They were best buddies and did much better as a pair then separated. I don't think he realizes it yet but not looking forward to whenever that happens. So now she resides in a small box in my parent's backyard. Why their backyard you say? Well, I had to go there to get a shovel because we do not own one. Seeing as there are already several pets in their yard we just decided to put her there. That way the kids wouldn't have to see the fresh dirt every day for the forseeable future and really so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore either. At any rate, here are some photos in her memory.
